
Advocacy Committee
YIP's Advocacy Committee identifies, researches, and initiates promising advocacy campaigns around key issues facing the City of Philadelphia. It aims to combine civic idealism with a strategic and pragmatic approach to affecting positive change in Philadelphia.
YIP has been involved with successful advocacy campaigns around:
- neighborhood zoning rights
- tax reform
- keeping MTV's The Real World in Philadelphia
- campaign finance reform
- skateboarding in LOVE Park
How can you get involved with YIP's Advocacy Committee?
- help select YIP advocacy issues and campaigns
- do background research on advocacy issues and strategies
- organize and participate in advocacy events and campaigns
- conduct outreach to decision-makers and key stakeholders
- write op-eds
What will you get out of working on advocacy campaigns with YIP?
- learn about the city, its key issues, and the realities/politics surrounding them
- exposure to the city's movers and shakers
- training in how to successfully conduct advocacy campaigns
