Get Involved with YIP
Become a YIP Committee Member
YIP’s committee members are the heart of our grassroots organization. Together with our board, these passionate volunteers help imagine and bring to life the unique resources and programming that help members connect with Philadelphia and get involved.
The committee helps with both the planning and oversight for all of the events that YIP holds throughout the year including our Get Involved Happy Hours, Run Club, State of Young Philly, voter registration drives and more. The committee empowers Philadelphians as well, helping them to navigate Philly’s civic and political landscape.

YIP Committee Meetings
Here at YIP we believe that simplicity is key, and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to get involved. This year, we will be hosting Idea Forums and Civics Cafes to make it easy for YOU to roll up your sleeves with YIP programming and to have your voice heard.
Idea Forums are the perfect chance for you to get involved by learning more about our plans for the year, and helping us brainstorm events that fit in with our 2017 goals. During our committee meetings, we encourage you to share your bright ideas and get up close and personal with the behind the scenes work that makes YIP programming possible. Our goal as a committee, is to work TOGETHER to develop an action plan for YIP’s programming and events for the calendar year.
We will be hosting three Idea Forums: March 22, June 7, and November 29.
Come join us to connect with other passionate Philadelphians to shape the landscape of Philly.
We heard you, Philly: You’re fired up. You’re ready to go. You just need a few pointers. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Civics Cafe, a new monthly event breaking down the basics of advocacy, policy, and mobilization one cup of coffee* at a time.
Check out our events page
for upcoming Civic Cafe details.

YIP Ambassador Program
What is the Ambassador Program?
It’s quite simple actually. The Ambassador program has the primary mission to help ensure that everyone has a positive first impression and ongoing experience with Young Involved Philadelphia.
What makes an Ambassador?
Ambassadors are friendly, outgoing, and committed to helping Young Involved Philadelphia grow. We enjoy meeting new people and are committed to make sure that everyone always feels welcomed and comfortable at YIP events.
What are the expectations of an Ambassador?
We recommend that Ambassadors plan to meet the following commitments:
-Attend a minimum of 1/4 of YIP events, such as happy hours and idea forums
-Participate in bimonthly Ambassador planning events
-Volunteer for 2-3 events during the week of State of Young PhillyBecome a YIP Ambassador
What are the benefits of becoming an Ambassador?
-Free or discounted volunteer tickets to select YIP events
-Special recognition on our website at the end of the year
This sounds like a great way for me to get involved, who should I speak to?
If you have any questions or would like to talk about joining our team of Ambassadors feel free to contact YIP’s Ambassador lead, Rachel Patchen!
