Today, with partisanship as extreme as it’s ever been, the idea of civic unity often feels like an unachievable goal. But there is still a lot that can be done, especially by young people, to foster the civic unity that will help us address our nation’s current challenges.
Join YIP virtually, in partnership with Committee of Seventy and The Carpenters' Company, for a provocative panel discussion (followed by Q&A) moderated by YIP president Morgan Robinson. Our esteemed panelists are Elizabeth Clay Roy, president and CEO of the national civic-engagement organization Generation Citizen; Lauren Cristella, chief advancement officer at the Committee of Seventy and president of the League of Women Voters of Philadelphia; and Jarrett Smith, YIP's programming co-chair. They’ll go beyond bemoaning the current state of affairs and focus on steps ordinary people can take to change the political discourse and improve their communities.
This event is co-presented by The Carpenters’ Company and the Committee of Seventy as part of the Civic Season, a national initiative co-produced by Civics Unplugged and Made by Us to promote civic engagement among young people between Juneteenth and July 4th, and as part of Wawa Welcome America, Philadelphia’s official July 4th Celebration.
