Sarah Fears is aggressively Midwestern (she’s never met a stranger in her life) and hails from Terre Haute, Indiana. She relocated to Philadelphia in 2017. Since living in Philly, she discovered a passion for helping people make a difference with philanthropy and volunteerism.

Sarah is the Assistant Director of Student Philanthropy for The Penn Fund at the University of Pennsylvania. There, she creates strategy for The Penn Fund’s student and young alumni donor participation and leadership giving efforts. Her work includes coordinating Seniors for The Penn Fund, a committee of student volunteers charged with acquiring 1,740 donors or more from their peers before the end of each fiscal year.

In addition to her work at The Penn Fund, Sarah is passionate about education. She is a tutor with the Literacy Council of Norristown where she helps students with Adult Basic Education, ESOL, and High School Equivalency exams. In addition to this, she is a volunteer with Girls with Grit, a nonprofit whose mission is to equip ambitious, resilient young women from Philadelphia with the tools and support to advance their professional dreams.

Sarah holds a M.S.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Political Science from DePauw University.

Sarah is Chair of Development.
